Veeners Q & A
What are veneers?
Veneers are thin porcelain shells that help conceal certain smile flaws. With a set of veneers, you can hide cosmetic concerns and flaunt a vastly improved smile.
You should consider veneers if you have:
Chipped teeth
Cracked teeth
Gaps in your smile
Discolored or stained teeth
Crooked teeth
In many cases, opting for veneers can serve as a full mouth rehabilitation, simultaneously improving your appearance and oral health.
What is the process of getting veneers?
First, Dr. Bahrami and the team take detailed digital scans of your teeth using the innovative iTero® intraoral scanner.
Dr. Bahrami may also file down your teeth slightly, reducing them in size using special dental tools, giving your veneers enough room to fit. The digital scans are used to custom make your new veneers.
Dr. Bahrami provides an outside dental lab with your veneer's specifications, including the exact sizing and shading needed to match your natural teeth. Your veneers will look exactly like healthy, natural teeth. It typically takes one to two weeks to finish a new set of veneers.
You’ll then return for a follow-up visit for your permanent veneer fitting. Dr. Bahrami uses a special dental adhesive to bond your veneers to your natural teeth, all in a simple procedure that doesn’t take long and doesn’t require an anesthetic.
What are the benefits of veneers?
The boost in self-confidence you’ll experience with a new set of veneers can be life-changing. They completely change your appearance, and best of all, the process involves no forms of oral surgery or other invasive procedures.
Beyond the cosmetic benefits, veneers can help restore your oral health. Chips, cracks, and gaps often affect essential functions like chewing, speech, and digestion. Veneers restore these functions and improve your overall quality of life.
How long do veneers last?
Veneers generally last 5-15 years, but the lifespan of a new set largely depends on you. Make sure to treat them just like your natural teeth. Continue brushing and flossing regularly, and maintain your regularly scheduled checkups to monitor your veneers.
